Jewellery with tassels, step by step tutorial

Jewellery with tassels are becoming popular again. The little decorative pendants come in many different colors and lengths. A wide collection of tassels can be found at Smyks.com. In this blog-post we demonstrate how you can make your own fancy jewellery sets with small tassels and Delica seed beads by Miyuki.

Below you will find a collection with delicate charms, Delica beads and semi-precious stones.
Our designer has combined these pendants and mini tassels in different ways and used them for various necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Choose between many different colours and create your own personal look – we like ours elegant and simple.

Bracelet with small tassels

We used the following materials to assemble this bracelet:

For this special piece of jewellery with tassels you will need two pairs of jewellery pliers to open and close the jumprings, for example flat-nose pliers and chain-nose pliers or a pliers set. In our earlier blog post on men’s necklaces we explain how to open and close jumprings correctly.

Fasten the tassels on the chain – evenly distributed – with 3mm jumprings. The spring-ring clasp is provided with an eyelet which can be opened. Open it and attach it to one end of the chain. Finally, you take the last 3mm jumpring and fasten the chain extender to the other end of the chain.

After that, you make the charms. For our example we made little charms with headpins, Delica beads, 4mm onyx beads and blackstone beads.
In our jewellery guide ”How to make a loop over a bead” you will find exact instructions on how to make a pendant or a charm.
Once all the charms are done, you fasten them to the chain with 3mm jumprings.

Necklace with little pendants

We used the following materials to assemble this necklace:

You need two pairs of pliers to open and close the jumprings, for example flat-nose pliers and chain-nose pliers or a pliers set. In our earlier blog post on men’s necklaces we explain how to open and close jumprings correctly.

First, you make the pendant with Delica beads which are stringed on a headpin. After that, you use the same method to make the pendant with the onyx tube. You will find step-by-step instructions in our jewellery guide ”How to make a loop over a bead”.
Then you hang the two pendants into a 4mm jumpring and fasten the tassel to the connector (the tassel’s eyelet can be opened). Finally, you string the different parts on the chain and close the chain with a jumpring.
As this chain is 60cm long, it can be pulled over the head. You do not need to attach a clasp. But in case you want the chain to be shorter, you can fasten a spring-ring clasp to one end and a 4mm jumpring to the other.

Earrings with little black tassel

We used the following materials to assemble these earrings:

You need two pairs of pliers to open and close the jumprings, for example flat-nose pliers and chain-nose pliers or a pliers set.

You fasten the tassels to the connector by opening and closing the tassels’ eyelets. If you want to look up how to open and close a jumpring correctly, go to our earlier blog post on men’s necklaces.

Now you can hang the connectors into the hoops and your earrings are done.
